FAQ

WHEN SHOULD I SEE A DOCTOR ABOUT MY FOOT PAIN?

You should consider seeing a doctor about your foot pain if it’s persistent, worsening, or affecting your ability to walk or do daily activities. Pain that lasts more than a few days, especially if it’s accompanied by swelling, redness, or difficulty putting weight on the foot, could be a sign of an underlying issue that needs treatment. It’s always better to catch problems early to avoid long-term complications. If you’re unsure, a quick consultation can help identify the cause and get you on the path to relief.

WHAT CAUSES PLANTAR FASCIITIS AND HOW IS IT TREATED?

Plantar fasciitis is caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot, connecting your heel to your toes. Repetitive stress, like running or standing for long periods, can strain this tissue, leading to tiny tears and inflammation.

Treatment usually begins with conservative methods, such as rest, stretching exercises, ice, and supportive footwear. Custom orthotics can help relieve pressure on the plantar fascia. If the pain persists, physical therapy, night splints, or injections may be recommended. In rare cases, surgery may be considered, but most people find relief with non-surgical treatments.

WHAT NONSURGICAL TREATMENTS DO YOU OFFER IN YOUR CLINIC?

In our clinic, we offer a variety of non-surgical treatments designed to relieve pain and promote healing. These include custom orthotics to support your feet and correct alignment issues, injections to reduce inflammation, and physical therapy to strengthen and stretch key areas. We also use advanced options and therapy, which stimulates healing in damaged tissue, and laser therapy, which helps reduce pain and inflammation. Our goal is to find the right combination of treatments for your specific needs to get you back on your feet comfortably, without the need for surgery. We also offer relief for other issues such as fungus, dry feet, etc.

WHAT ARE CUSTOM ORTHOTICS AND HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED THEM?

Custom orthotics are specially designed shoe inserts tailored to support the unique structure of your feet. Unlike over-the-counter insoles, custom orthotics are crafted to address specific alignment issues, correct foot mechanics, and relieve pressure points, which can help alleviate pain in your feet, knees, hips, or even your lower back. You might benefit from custom orthotics if you experience chronic foot pain, have flat feet or high arches, or notice discomfort while standing, walking, or running. During an assessment, we can determine if custom orthotics would improve your comfort and support your active lifestyle.

WHY DOESN'T DR. HENINGER TAKE INSURANCE?

At our practice, we prioritize quality, personalized care over quick, insurance-driven visits. We believe that the insurance system often forces doctors to rush through appointments, leaving patients feeling like just another number on the list. That’s not how we operate. By choosing a direct care model, we’re free to focus entirely on you—listening, understanding, and creating a treatment plan that’s tailored to your needs. We take the time necessary to address your concerns in-depth and give you the highest standard of care. Our goal is to get you feeling your best, not to keep you stuck in a cycle of temporary fixes. This is a fee for service clinic.
